A Handbook of Children and Young People's Participation, edited by Barry Percy-Smith and Nigel Thomas, includes discussions on challenges facing issues of participation, contextual aspects, as well as theoretical and methodological reflections about projects and practice.

International Girl Child Conference
On 9 an 10 March 2009, the International Girl Child Conference on violence against girls was held in the Kurhaus in The Hague.
The Girl Child Conference was organised by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Ministry for Youth and Families, the Ministry of Health, Welfare & Sport, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, and the UNICEF Innocenti Research Centre.
